Coastguard Issues Orange Tide Warning

Jersey Met and the Coastguard are issuing an orange tide warning for 27 and 28 October.

Islanders are being asked to be cautious when travelling on coastal roads as there may be flooding.

The worst affected areas are on the south coast, with waves expected to breach the sea wall.

Motorists could see Havre Des Pas and Victoria Avenue closed as a result.

At 6:18 pm this evening (27 October) high water will reach 11.1 metres, as well as tomorrow morning (28 October) at 6:42 am.

Jersey Coastguard has reminded people in a post on social media that almost half of people who drown in the UK do not intend to go in the water.

"If you're considering going close to the coast during high tide, we recommend you dress appropriately, wear high viz, and let someone know where you are."
