Covid Vaccine Walk-Ins Extended

Walk-in appointments to get a coronavirus vaccine are now available at Fort Regent until the end of January.

It means all islanders aged 12 and over can go to the vaccine centre until the end of this month without having to pre-book a time slot.

The government is welcoming walk-ins for people wanting a first, second, or booster dose.

They have to bring their ID and wear a face mask. A negative lateral flow test before going is encouraged.

"I am pleased that the team has been able to extend the offer of walk-in appointments to Islanders. We have increased capacity at the Centre to accommodate more Islanders who are coming for their primary doses and boosters.

We have been welcoming many Islanders who’ve come up for their vaccine as they happened to be in town already or were on their work break. We are receiving positive feedback on how convenient it is to just pop up when you have a free moment.

The average turnaround time is approximately 15 minutes, so it’s really easy for someone who is on their commute - driving or walking through Town to just come and get their vaccination without a booked appointment.

I hope that many more Islanders benefit from the walk-ins and use this opportunity to have their first vaccine if they haven’t already, it’s not too late to have a change of heart and the team will be very happy to accommodate any questions or concerns you may have." - Emma Baker, Head of the Vaccination Programme.

Appointments can still be booked here or by calling the coronavirus helpline on 0800 735 5566.

Rock Up Clinics for first, second or booster doses for healthcare staff are now only taking place at the hospital.

It follows feedback from staff who said it would be more convenient.
