Voting has opened in Jersey's 2026 general election, with people able to cast their ballots at St Paul's Centre.
Election day is officially Sunday 7 June. Organisers are hoping holding the election on a Sunday for the first time will improve Jersey's low voter turnout.
However, anyone eligible to vote can do so ahead of 7 June, by heading for St Paul's Centre in St Helier.
Pre-poll (early) voting is open:
- · Tuesday 26 May: 8:45am – 5pm
- · Wednesday 27 May: 8:45am – 5pm
- · Thursday 28 May: 8:45am – 5pm
- · Friday 29 May: 8:45am – 5pm
- · Monday 1 June: 8:45am – 12 noon
It is open to anyone, regardless of where in Jersey they live.
People who are away from the island on 7 June and who have not applied for a postal vote are encourage to use the pre-poll station.
Equally, it can be used if you have already decided who to vote for, or if you won't be able to make it to your parish/district polling station on 7 June.
Islanders are encouraged to bring photo ID, such as a passport or driving license, when attending the pre-poll station.
Residents without either of these can bring an alternative form of ID, such as Yoti, JerseyMe, or a recent utility bill.
Islanders arriving without any ID, may need to wait longer to allow the Electoral Administrator to verify their identity using Parish records.
Emily Thomas, Campaign Manager at the States Greffe, said:
"What's really great about the pre-poll station is it doesn't matter where you live in the island, this is like our equivalent of a mega-polling station, a bit like Guernsey had in their last election.
"No matter where you live, you can come to pre-poll and cast your votes for the Senators, the Deputies and your parish connétable.
"It's super convenient if you live in town, if you are working in town, or if you're popping into town and you're doing some bits and bobs in town anyway, it's right there, it's accessible and it's the perfect option to get that done, be a voter, and tick that off your to-do-list for the day."
92 candidates are running for 49 seats in the States Assembly - 9 senators, 28 deputies and 12 parish constables.
