Hospital air-con failure fixed

An issue with air conditioning at Jersey's General Hospital, which meant some operating theatres had to close, has been fixed.

Three of the seven theatres shut last month because of the problem with the chilled water unit on the hospital's roof.

A new unit has been shipped in and installed, with theatre activity back to normal.

83 patients needing routine or non-urgent procedures were affected, and had their appointments rescheduled.

Simon West, Medical Director for Health and Care Jersey, said:

"Following the issues highlighted on 27 May 2026 with the chilled water unit on the roof of the hospital, which affected some of our operating theatres during the period of significant heat, I can provide a further update.
