All health and social professionals may soon be required to register with the Jersey Care Commission.
The government says the new plans hope to standardise the local process and 'make it fair' for all professional groups.
Most HSC workers are already registered with the JCC, but some have to be registered with the Judicial Greffe or the Chief Pharmacist.
Ministers say it means there are 'inconsistencies' and that a centralised system will mean the register is up-to-date and will also hold the qualifications they have.
If the plans are implemented, the registration will cost £59.21 and will have to be renewed every year for the same 'fixed fee'.
Workers registered with the Greffe or the Chief Pharmacist will automatically be transferred.
Registration with the JCC would be in addition to any relevant UK regulatory body, such as the General Medical Council, and would apply from 2026.
"Some professions are obliged to renew their registration annually for a fee, while others do not have to renew their registration. This means that there is no single, up-to-date record of who is practising in Jersey or the qualifications they hold, which makes it difficult to ensure professionals are appropriately qualified and their practise is effectively regulated." - Government of Jersey.
A consultation is open until 26 February.
