James Barrett is running back and forth along St Aubin's Bay for 24 hours to raise money for Centrepoint's Special Needs Unit.
The Vice Chair of the Governors will set off on a 24-hour run at midday on Saturday (8 June) aiming to raise enough money to keep the space open for two days in the holidays.
James Barrett says he aims to run at least 100 miles in this time, 16 laps up of the seafront, running from the Waterfront to St Aubin and back.
"I was looking for a new challenge and I thought with it being my 40th birthday as well as being Centrepoint's 40th birthday this year to finally tackle a really big running challenge and I wanted to try 24 hours or breaking 100 miles so I aim to do both."
The 39-year-old's eldest son, Teddy, was supported by the additional needs services at Centrepoint for many years, as it is the only place in the island where help is offered to primary-aged children.
The father-of-three's goal is to raise £2,500 and has hit more than £1,600 so far.
