Lowest Unemployment Figures Since 2011

The number of people registered as actively looking for a job in Jersey is at its lowest level in more than a decade.

720 people are registered as actively seeking work at the end of March.

That's 590 lower than the same month last year.

270 of those have been looking for work for more than 12 months, down by 180 compared to March 2021.

120 of the 270 are classified as underemployed as they are in some form of paid employment.

90% of those actively seeking work were receiving income support.

110 of the 720 are under the age of 25 and 50 are aged between 16 and 19.

590 are British or from Jersey. 60 are Portuguese or Madeiran and 5% are from EU succession nations.

"I’m delighted to see the number of unemployed come down as the Back to Work team continues to get as many job seekers back into employment as quickly as possible.

The team remains focused on supporting long-term jobseekers and doing their best to help them towards employment." - Deputy Judy Martin, Social Security Minister.
