Andrew Page (45) has been jailed by Jersey's Royal Court for a 'deliberate and nasty' assault on a woman.
Page attacked his victim in December 2022, throwing her around, hitting her head against a skirting board and putting his hands around her neck several times.
Police say she was choked until the point of nearly passing out.
The 45-year-old initially reported the victim to the police, saying that she assaulted him. Further enquiries established that he had been the aggressor.
Following a trial in April, Page was found guilty of grave and criminal assault.

He has been sentenced to four and half years in prison, and handed a seven year Domestic Abuse Protection Order.
These were introduced last year as part of greater protections for survivors of domestic abuse.

Detective Constable Verity Thomas from the Public Protection Unit said:
”This was a deliberate and nasty assault carried out by Page.
"Behaviour like this should never be tolerated. We will do everything in our power to see offenders such as this face justice.
"Anyone else who has experienced similar abuse can come forward and speak to officers at any time.”
Page was also given an extra two months on top of his four-and-a-half-year sentence for an unrelated theft from a jewellery shop, where he 'exploited a staff member's vulnerability' to steal goods that were never recovered.
