A man who twice violently assaulted a woman in Jersey, before making threats to stop her from reporting it, has been jailed.
In one of the assaults, Sebastian Gasulla-Sole (41) left his victim with lasting, significant injuries.
The Royal Court heard that she was vulnerable and became increasingly scared and isolated as Gasulla-Sole's behaviour escalated.
He used threats and intimidation to try and stop her from saving evidence and reporting what happened, but she courageously came forward to police in August 2025.
Gasulla-Sole initially denied the offences, but on the first day of his trial, he changed his pleas to guilty, as the victim and other witnesses were preparing to have to give evidence.
He's been sentenced to four years and three months in prison.
DC Luis, the officer in this case, said:
"We recognise that people subjected to this type of behaviour may not always feel able to come forward straight away. Fear, manipulation and intimidation can make it extremely difficult to report offences.
"We would encourage anyone experiencing similar behaviour to seek support when they are able. This case also highlights the importance of retaining documentary evidence, where it is safe to do so, which can be crucial in supporting future investigations.
"We are grateful to the professionals who supported the victim throughout this process."
