Man Rescued From St Aubin's Fort

A man has been rescued from St Aubin's Fort after dark after being cut off by the tide.

The Jersey Fire Inshore Rescue Boat was launched just after 5pm on Saturday when a man in his 30s called the Coastguard to say he was stuck.

The service says it was lucky he could raise the alarm, because he could have suffered hypothermia if he'd had to wait through the night for the tide to fall to get back to shore.

The SJFRS Helmsman, Rick Ryan has issued a reminder to the public:  "When exploring Jerseys beaches and coastline always let someone back on shore know where you are going and what time you are expected to return. Mobile phones are great but should not be solely relied upon to get you out of trouble if required”.
