Families in Jersey on Income Support could get an extra £260 a year.
It's under proposed changes to the benefit.
The family supplement introduced earlier this year is set to rise, with the Social Security Minister saying that will 'help parents with the costs of bringing up their children'.
"This proposition also supports the government's strategic objective to put children first." - Deputy Judy Martin
Other components* of the benefit are planned to go up by up to 1.9%, and workers and pensioners will be able to keep more of the money they earn with a 1% increase in the income disregards.
The States will vote on the proposed increases next month, and the new payments could be made by October.
They will cost around £2 million extra a year.
