A number of changes have been made to make it easier for people in Jersey to apply for social housing.
More young people without children now qualify, as the age for applicants has been lowered from 35 to 30.
The maximum annual income threshold has also been increased to £38,818 for individuals and £52,462 for joint applicants.
The new criteria follows changes to restrictions which widened access to social housing in September 2023.
The Minister for Housing Sam Mézec hopes these measures will help resolve the housing crisis.
"I am please to announce these changes to expand eligibility for social housing to more young people. A key aspect of resolving our housing crisis is to ensure that all islanders who need it are supported into affordable housing.
Until now, younger people without children have had no choice but to pay high rents in the private sector, and potentially live in rental stress because they were excluded from accessing social housing."
More homes have been developed in order to not overwhelm waiting lists.
There are further plans to lower the age to 25 later this year.
