Roadworks are taking place on Beaumont Hill and La Route de la Haule between 5 and 26 November to prepare for essential sewage works.
The busy roads near Cheffins are being prepared for sewage network upgrades, with new drainage infrastructure to separate foul waste from rainwater due to be installed.
The upgrades will increase the capacity of the systems, meaning new homes can connect to it in the future.
It will also reduce the pressure on the Beaumont Pumping Station and the liquid waste network at Bellozanne. The area has long been liable to flooding.
Roadworks will be done in stages, out of peak hours, to minimise disruptions.
They will happen between 9am and 4pm on weekdays and 9am to 6pm on some Sundays.
During November, trial holes will be created to confirm the position and depth of the existing network and underground services.
This means Beaumont Hill will be closed to people travelling north from the filter-in-turn junction on La Route de la Haule to the Beaumont Canon.
Businesses and islanders in the area are being notified about the works, and access to and from homes and shops will be maintained.
The results of the holes will help to inform the design of a scheme, which will help to remove surface water (runoff from roads and roofs) from the foul drainage network.

5 November 2023 - 9:00 am to 6:00 pm: Works on La Rote de la Haule. Lanes closed.

6 to 16 November 2023, Monday to Friday - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm: Works on La Route de Beaumont. The northbound lane is closed between the filter-in-turn junction and the cannon.

12 November 2023 - 9:00 am to 6:00 pm: Filter in turn junction. Filter-in-turn lane and junction are closed, with no right turn onto La Route de Beaumont for westbound traffic and no right turn on to La Route de La Haule for those travelling southbound.

13 November 2023 - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm: Filter in turn junction. Filter-in-turn lane is closed but Beaumont Hill is open.

17 to 26 November 2023, Monday to Friday - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm: Works on La Rote de la Haule. Lanes closed.
