Oxford/AstraZeneca Vaccine Arrives In Jersey

The first 900 doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine have arrived in Jersey.

The Health Department says up to 7,000 doses are due to arrive by the end of the month.

The vaccine is due to be rolled out from the Monday 18th January, with the first doses used to protect any care home residents who were unable to receive the Pfizer jab.

After that, it will be used to vaccinate Jersey's over 80s at Fort Regent.

The news comes as Jersey's government confirmed two more people have died with COVID-19 in Jersey in the last 24 hour period.

In that time, 29 new cases were identified but 43 people recovered.

It means Jersey currently has 332 active cases.

14 people with the virus are being treated in hospital, and 10 care home residents have tested positive.
