Pizzeria Romana has closed after 38 years in business.
The owners of the popular town restaurant at Charing Cross say they have shut 'due to a combination of circumstances'.
A sign on the door titled 'Grazie & Arrivederci' (Thank you and Goodbye) says it has permanently closed.
"After many wonderful years of serving this community, we've made the difficult decision to close our doors for good. We're deeply sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
"To every guest who shared a table, a slice, and a story with us - thank you. It's been the honour of a lifetime to cook for you.
"With love, the Pizzeria Romana Family".
The restaurant, with its traditional wood-panelled dining room, was loved by locals and visitors alike for its selection of pizza, pasta and seafood dishes.
Diners could watch the pizzaiolo (pizza chef) at work, long before that was more commonplace on the restaurant scene.
Owner Tony Pigliacelli and family suffered a huge setback in April 2019, when a fire devastated the historic building.

Four months later, Pizzeria Romana reopened at a temporary location on Cheapside until its Charing Cross home was rebuilt. It returned there in 2022.
Hundreds of customers have expressed their sadness to see the diner go, with many describing it as 'the end of an era':
My friends and I are all very, very sad that you felt you had to make that decision. Thank-you so much for, in my case, heading 30+ years of warm hospitality, fine pasta, wonderful pizza, and a true restaurant with personality. We’re going to miss you.
So sad to hear this news. Its been a long family tradition to visit your restaurant over many years and would like to thank all the staff for the hard work and dedication and making our visits such an enjoyable experience x
38 yrs is a fantastic achievement you should be very proud of yourselves. Thank you for your great hospitality and best wishes for the future.
The lease for the 70-seater restaurant is now for sale, described as being in a 'prime location, with excellent footfall.'
In a social media post, the Pigliacelli family said:
"We would like to thank all our customers for their loyalty and support over the years, and our staff, past and present, for their hard work and dedication."
