'Remain Vigilant' If Going To Bonfire Display

Islanders going to bonfire and fireworks displays over the weekend are being urged 'to remain vigilant'.

It's advised they respect personal space, wear a face mask when meeting people indoors, and take a lateral flow test before going.

"If Islanders are experiencing any COVID symptoms, they should immediately isolate and book a PCR test." - Government of Jersey.

The government is strongly recommending that people wear face masks inside public spaces, take lateral flow tests at least twice a week and before going to large events, and get vaccinated for coronavirus and the flu as soon as possible.

Variety, the children's charity, is hosting a display in St John this evening (5 November).

There will also be a display in St Martin's tomorrow evening (6 November).

"It is always very important to additionally use them (lateral flow tests) before going to large gatherings, before going to events, and before seeing vulnerable people." - Dr. Ivan Muscat, Deputy Medical Officer of Health.

Coronavirus case rates are increasing.

601 people are currently known to have the virus in Jersey.

Two of those are being treated in hospital.
