A special repatriation flight has been put on to help Polish citizens living in Jersey return home.

The UK's Polish Embassy announced the LOT Polish Airlines flight will leave this weekend heading directly to Warsaw.

It'll depart at 12:50pm on Saturday afternoon, costing around £115.

Jersey's government says it will also provide financial support for anyone who would otherwise not be able to afford the flight.

External Relations Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, says they want everyone to be where they feel at home during the coronavirus pandemic:

"The Government of Jersey is happy to support fellow governments in their global repatriation attempts. In this case, we are particularly pleased to support our Polish community to be wherever they feel most at home during this crisis, whether that be Poland or Jersey."

Anyone from Jersey currently in Poland can apply for a seat on the outbound flight to the island by emailing externalrelations@gov.je, while Polish people can book the flight to Warsaw online.

Polish Ambassador to the UK, Arkady Rzegocki, says they've been closely co-operating with the island's government:

"The repatriation flight to Poland from Jersey shows how much we care and are concerned for our citizens, and that we react fast to their needs.

"Thank you to all those involved in helping our citizens to return home, including Polish Honorary Consul Magdalena Chmielewska and the Government of Jersey for their smooth and swift cooperation."

Odejdzie w sobotę po południu o 12:50 i kosztuje około 598zł.

Rząd Jersey twierdzi, że zapewni również wsparcie finansowe każdemu, kto inaczej nie byłby w stanie pozwolić na lot.
