Suspected £10m Heroin Haul Seized

Jersey's Customs Officers think they have intercepted around £10 million pounds worth of heroin.

Ten kilos of drugs were found hidden in the fuel tank of a car arriving off the ferry from Poole on Saturday.

A 29 year old man from Liverpool has been charged with importing drugs.

Alexander Daniel Cullen is expected to appear before Jersey's Magistrate's Court today.

A government statement says officers are awaiting full analysis of the consignment, but that initial tests suggest the substance to be heroin.

"If confirmed, the haul could have a street value in Jersey of up to £10 million." -  GoJ

The Customs and Immigration Service says anyone with information about drugs smuggling should call the Customs Freephone on 0800 735 5555 and speak to an officer in complete confidence.
