University College Jersey opens first Masters Degree

University College Jersey has announced its first ever masters degree programme - the Master of Research (MRes) in Island Studies.

University College Jersey has opened its first Master's Degree.

The University of Plymouth accredits the Master of Research (MRes) in Island Studies.

It is a two-year, part-time programme designed for working professionals who want to research to benefit Jersey’s communities, economy and future

The first year consists of three taught modules, including 'Island Studies', which examines islands' cultural, economic, environmental, and historical uniqueness.

The second year is dedicated to an independent research project. 

Kate Hobbs, Highlands College Vice-Principal for Curriculum and acting Head of University College Jersey, says:

“The MRes is a strategic investment in the island’s future.

"By equipping islanders with advanced research skills and the ability to tackle real-world challenges, this programme supports Jersey’s ambition to grow as a centre of innovation, knowledge, and professional development.”

Applications for the MRes Island Studies are now open via the University College Jersey website.

The course is scheduled to begin in September, subject to sufficient enrolment
