Weekender to return in September

Organisers of Weekender and Lib in The Square have announced some changes to the island's festival scene this summer.

Both events will be returning this year, with slight changes.

Weekender will be back in September, after its move to an earlier date in July last year.

'Weekender Presents' will be a Friday night special as part of Weekender that is 'something brand new for the island.'

Organiser Warren Le Sueur told Channel 103 that they are 'going down the classical route for the Friday' with something 'modern and spectacular.'

He also says Lib in the Square is being enhanced with 'Lib Live' on Friday 1 May:

"It's going to be an acoustic-style live event.

"We've been asked by many people if we can do something live in the square, and it makes complete sense that we take it over.

"With the unique position we're in with the Royal Square, and having the infrastructure that people know from Lib in the Square with the sound systems and infrastructure, we can offer something there using our experience from Weekender as well."

He told Channel 103 that islanders can expect UK touring artists that 'a lot of people know', which will attract a slightly different crowd from the Saturday.

Confirmation of both events returning comes as Wonky Town is cancelled for 2026 due to 'financial pressures.'

However, dance festival Out There is heading back out west, returning to its home at Val de la Mar Reservoir, in one 'big day' of acts.
