A 13-year-old from Jersey has joined the cast of a new Lord of the Rings series produced by Amazon Studios.

Amelie Child-Villiers, who goes to Beaulieu, flew out to New Zealand last year for filming.

It hasn't been announced what role the local teenager will play within J.R.R Tolkien's fantasy universe.

The internet streaming giant secured global TV rights to the franchise in 2017, with at least two seasons confirmed to be in production.

The deal was thought to be worth $250 million, with a total production budget likely to top more than $1 billion.

Beaulieu head, Andrea Firby, says she's proud of Amelie's acheivement:

"Lord of the Rings is one of my favourite books and I am thrilled that Amelie is going to be featuring in this production.

"It's so exciting that one of our pupils has this opportunity and we are more than happy and proud to support her talent.

"Amelie is a very grounded, well-rounded young lady, who I know will take her fame in her stride. I can't wait to be able to tune in and watch!"

Lord Of The Rings is due to premiere on Amazon Prime Video later this year.
