Jersey needs two people aged 18 - 29 to join the Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP) in Australia this July.
The 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament is being held from 26 July to 31 July, and the island is looking for two 'standout' representatives to take part.
It is being deemed as an opportunity for people from the Commonwealth to come together and learn about how politics and parliamentary processes work.
The ideal candidates will have an interest in politics and the Commonwealth, be committed to our community, and present good leadership and communication skills.
Deputy Robert Ward, Chair of the Jersey Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, says Jersey’s work with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is important because it raises awareness of the island on an international stage and increases knowledge of parliamentary best practice.
"This year’s Commonwealth Youth Parliament in Sydney, Australia, offers our young people an incredible opportunity to prove themselves alongside their Commonwealth peers, to learn how parliaments work, and perhaps lay foundations for a future in politics."
Molly Gladwin, Education Manager at the States Greffe, said with Commonwealth Day taking place on Monday, 9 March, it’s the perfect time to be inviting young people from Jersey to apply to take part in the 2026 Commonwealth Youth Parliament.
"The theme of this year’s Commonwealth Day is ‘Unlocking opportunities together for a prosperous Commonwealth’, and I’d urge anyone who is keen to represent Jersey on a global level and add an incredible, enriching experience to their CV, to unlock this opportunity without delay."
Islanders interested in applying should submit their CVs and a cover letter of no more than 500 words to m.gladwin@gov.je by 20 March.
Interviews will start taking place from 6 April.
