Despite being absent from the States this week due to illness, 20 assembly members voted for Deputy Yvonne Burford to fill the vacant seat in the Policy and Resources committee.
Deputy Burford was P&R's preferred replacement for Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq, who is on remand in prison, charged with making multiple indecent images of children.
It was a contested election, with Deputy John Gollop running - he received 14 votes.
A new president of the DPA needs to be chosen to replace Deputy Burford.
