It's business as usual for Guernsey's Blood Donation services
Whilst the hospital readies itself to manage the impact of COVID-19, business as usual continues in many areas. The Blood Donation services is one such area.
While the service is not running short of blood and blood products the staff would like to reassure the public that it is safe to attend for donation.
Paul Sutton, Laboratory Services Manager said: ‘Members of the public who normally donate blood should not be concerned about attending the Pathology Department. It has a separate entrance meaning donors do not have to walk through any other patient areas of the hospital.
'If you are contacted and able please do attend as we still require donations.’
The only additional restrictions in place regarding blood donation are for people who are currently in self-isolation or for people who have any respiratory symptoms. Both of which will be picked up by the callers at first contact.
