The Lions Club of Guernsey has funded the vehicle, which is already in service.
Meals on Wheels is run by Guernsey's Voluntary Service (GVS) six days a week, with a fleet of four cars plus a backup.
These are used by volunteers to take hot lunches to hundreds of elderly islanders, and their figures show that last year 28,000 meals were delivered.
The service collects from the PEH kitchens where the food is prepared.
Paul Allaway, the president of the Lions Club, says they have a close relationship with the GVS, and this is how the donation came about:
"We’ve been supporting GVS for a number of years, and this is not the first car we’ve supplied, as we did a joint initiative just after Covid with the North Show Committee and the Leo Club."
GVS manager Mandy Le Bachelet says they are very grateful to the Lions Club:
"This donation will enable us to keep this essential service on the road, ensuring we can continue helping older people remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible.
"Our Meals on Wheels vehicles cover thousands of miles every year, so replacing them regularly is essential to maintaining a reliable service.
"Having organisations such as the Lions Club willing to invest in our community makes a tremendous difference."
The Lions Club of Guernsey raises money for many local good causes, and its flagship event is the annual Donkey Derby.
