Many dot gg websites are inaccessible, following international warnings about a security weakness in web software.
Cybersecurity experts have found a weakness in PHP, software used by many websites around the world.
It could allow someone to interfere with a website without needing a password.
A fix is expected today (21 October), but the States of Guernsey are following international advice to temporarily take websites offline.
The affected sites include the main gov.gg, the Revenue Service portal, the Institute website and beausejour.gg.
On socials, the States say this is a precautionary move, as there is no evidence that any of the websites have been affected.
"We are acting early because it is the safest way to protect the public and our systems while the fix is applied and tested."
Each website is expected to come back online once the update has been applied and checked.
