The Guernsey Dairy will charge wholesalers 6% more in the early New Year.
The 6.3% increase will come into effect on 6 January 2024.
It will be charged to wholesalers, who buy milk from the Dairy and supply it to shops and homes.
It is the wholesalers decision whether to pass on the increase, but in practice this is generally what happens.
Island FM understands that once the price hikes have been introduced, Guernsey will have the most expensive milk per litre in Europe.
A litre of Guernsey milk currently costs around £1.72.
The Dairy says the price rise will help offset its increased costs, brought about by Brexit, political instability and supply chain issues.
It means milk will edge ever closer to the £2 a litre mark.
The Dairy last increased its wholesale price in March 2023.
