A puffin nursed back to health by the GSPCA has been released in northern Guernsey so that he can make the short flight to Herm.
The puffin, named Percival, was found at Port Grat in February, heavily oiled and exhausted.
He was taken to the GSPCA who have spent five months nursing him back to health.
The Shelter says this initially involved hand feeding and that his recovery was slow, and at times complex.
But on a sunny Monday in July (20th) the bird was released back into the wild at the beach next to Fort Doyle.
It was chosen by the GSPCA because it is one of the closest points to Herm and it is believed Percival came from there and will make the short flight back.
At the Shelter, work is progressing on its new wildlife hospital and the foundations are now being laid for the new dog kennel complex.
