Charity Offers Travel Grants For IVF

Tiny Seeds is offering islanders embarking on an IVF journey money towards travel costs.

The fertility charity has found that an average of £2,678 is spent on travel and accommodation when islanders go through IVF.

That is on top of an average of £15,011 spent on the treatment itself.

Those numbers come from a recent survey conducted by the charity, which asked islanders about their experiences with the treatment.

Chloe Fosse, the charity's founder, says the results show people are clearly struggling with the cost of IVF.

"It's just a real struggle for everybody, so we're really pleased to have these grant awards and to be able to start offering these grants to people."

"Hopefully, it will go a bit of a way to helping to offset a bit of the cost."

Tiny Seeds hopes the government introduces a clinically based funding system for IVF rather than the means-tested system.

The founder says pregnancy is very time sensitive, especially with fertility struggles.

"People don't have time to wait and sit that out and see what happens, so we're trying to help people that need that support now."
