A youngster is being praised for swimming to shore to alert lifeguards that their family needed saving.
The group were cut off by the rising tide and strong swell at Greve de Lecq on Bank Holiday Monday (31 August)
They became trapped on rocks to the east side of the bay as the water rose around them.
A young family member managed to swim back to the beach to tell lifeguards their relatives were in trouble.
Once told, the two lifeguards on duty - both named Tom - took turns to use a rescue board to safely retrieve those stranded one by one and paddle then back to the beach.
They had to wait for gaps in the crashing waves to get each of them to safety.

The RNLI Jersey has praised the pair of rescuers for a 'massive effort':
"Also a thank you to the casualties for staying calm during the rescue, and for the young family member who quickly swam back to notify our lifeguards of their changing situation."
