More padel courts at Jersey's Les Ormes for the summer

A further £200,000 investment will see the number of padel courts increased to eight.

Jersey's padel scene is getting larger with additional courts being added, ready for the summer.

Les Ormes says there is growing demand for sports and wellness experiences on island, as it strives to create a leisure hub.

Around 1,000 people in Jersey play padel there each week, with even more during school holidays.

Four courts opened last summer with a £200K investment - £75,000 of which came from a government-funded grant to boost economic growth.

The same is being spent again to double the number of courts to eight, with a further £75,000 from the Jersey Business - Better Business Grant.

Jersey Business CEO Paul Murphy explains how everyone will feel the benefit.

“The Better Business Grant is designed to give ambitious local businesses the confidence to invest and grow.

"When companies such as Les Ormes expand, the benefits are felt across the wider economy, from employment and skills to visitor experience and long‑term resilience.”

The expansion follows the launch of a wellness studio above the padel courts.

Steve Dunford, Sports & Leisure Manager at Les Ormes, says more people are using the facilities.

“Transforming the building into a dedicated padel and wellness hub has attracted an entirely new demographic to the site, which in turn boosts wider support for the Bosdet Foundation and its work with children across Jersey.”
