Patient Airlifted To Southampton By Military Helicopter

A military helicopter was called to Jersey Airport last night to take a patient needing emergency treatment to the UK.

It landed at 11pm on Tuesday night, with the government saying it called on military assistance to avoid any delay as the patient needed urgent care.

It hasn't been confirmed whether the patient was being treated for coronavirus or not.

We know the patient is being treated in Southampton General Hospital, but no further details are being released to protect their privacy.

"Military assistance was sought for reasons of patient safety and to avoid any delay in the transport taking place.

"We will not be releasing any more details on the patient in order to protect their confidentiality." -Government spokesman
