£1.5M donated to Jersey charities from dormant bank accounts

The Jersey Reclaim Fund has donated another £1.5 million recovered from bank accounts where contact with owners has been lost for more than 15 years.

The government-backed initiative was established in 2017, to provide stable support for local causes and make a meaningful impact in Jersey.

The funding forms part of at least £4.5 million allocated to local charities over three years.

It is the second injection of funds as part of a package between 2025 and 2027.

Money is distributed by the Jersey Community Foundation.

Its CEO, Anna Terry, is inviting charities and organisations who may benefit from extra funding to contact them.

“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the Government of Jersey once again to distribute £1.5 million from the Jersey Reclaim Fund this year.

"In 2025, we awarded over £1.8 million from dormant funds to support charities and community organisations across the Island, and we’ve seen first-hand the difference this funding can make.

“We would encourage organisations to get in touch with us early to discuss their ideas ahead of the application deadline, as we look forward to continuing to support the vital work being delivered across Jersey.”
