The Lieutenant-Governor has praised the hard-working and 'passionate' staff at the island's prison.
His Excellency Sir Stephen Dalton and his wife, Lady Dalton, have been on a tour of HMP La Moye.
They were shown new facilities like video calling and space for family visits, which were introduced earlier this year to help prisoners maintain family ties and reduce re-offending.
The says it's reassuring to see staff enthusiastic about helping prisoners reintegrate into society:
“The care that is evident from both the officers and specialists at the prison is very reassuring as well as impressive – there’s a clear passion to find that ‘better’ way of doing things for the prisoners.
“From an island perspective, it is reassuring to know that staff are passionate about helping prisoners reintegrate into society, and that is going to help everyone in Jersey.”
