The newly transformed basketball court at Millennium Town Park, named in memory of a much-loved former player and coach, is now open.
The brightly coloured 'G Court' is a community basketball space created as a lasting tribute to Guillaume Hoareau, who passed away in 2024 aged just 40, after suffering a cardiac arrest on the court in a Jersey-Guernsey game.

Islanders are invited to come and see the new space, get a free basketball, meet the team and coaches, try the court, and remember 'G'.
Paul Milbank, President of the Jersey Basketball Association, told Channel 103 the development represents 'everything' Guillaume was passionate about:
"G would have absolutely loved this, both for the fact that this is now a really high-quality outdoor basketball facility; this was the dream when I was growing up. I would have loved to play on a court like this.
"But also as a place for young people to gather, the community to come together.
"Anyone you speak to about G, the first thing you'll see is that they'll start smiling; he was a playful character, wanting to make people laugh and have a good time. You get a lot of good spirit about G from all different parts of the community.
"We're just going to have a big celebration about the chance for this facility to be available, but also to celebrate G."

Following Guillaume’s passing, the Jersey Basketball Association set up a fund, hoping to create something lasting in his name.
It exceeded its £25,000 target through the generous donations of islanders, and the government match-funded the project, making the redevelopment possible.
Local architectural firm ANY provided the design for the court, with the colours a nod to the flag of Réunion, Guillaume's home island.
A commemorative plaque is to be put on the fencing, and there is also a blank space for artwork which the JBBA says it will try to get designed by young islanders in the near future.
